Floating Flowers

P31

Created these flowers for our baby shower after seeing how expensive they are at Michaels. Bought the sunflowers at the 99 Cent store (they came in bunches of 8) took the heads off and glued them on styrofoam plates also from the 99 Cent store. Voila! This is a photo of me testing them out in our bathtub.

New wreath for my friend X

Wreath

This is a wreath I created for my fabulous friend, X.  It’s definitely the most wonderful time of the year!

Refinished Dresser

This post goes along with the nightstands we refinished a couple of months ago.  As we were doing that project, The Brazilian and I also came upon this FABULOUS antique dresser made of solid wood for a steal of a deal.  We think it dates back to the 1950's or 60's.  It has two HUGE ornate mirrors (not shown) that attached in the back which we removed and are thinking of refinishing those and hanging them side by side along our staircase. We cleaned, sanded, painted and added new drawer pulls and VOILA!  A  brand new dresser was born!  I'm planning to line the drawers with purple velvet soon!  Stay tuned...

Old Side Tables - New to Me

The Brazilian and I have decided to redecorate our bedroom.  We wanted quality furniture but on a budget so we reverted to finding well built items at antique stores and Craigslist.  We found this side table at a Hotel Furniture store.  They once belonged to the Flamingo Hotel back in the day.  I saw potential so we bought two of them for $35 each and after some sanding, painting and adding crystal knobs (bought from eBay) VOILA!

Doll House Raffle Box

This is an oldie but a goodie!  The hubby and I created this doll house raffle box for a client.  They wanted a raffle box created for a “Pay a Year of Your Rent/Mortgage” promotion.  We took a doll house shell, emptied the inside, painted the outside and added windows, décor and a door.  The hubby then added plexi-glass to the back so that the raffle slips would be visible.  He also created a hinge at the top with a lock and cut a hole for people to put their entries in.  I wanted the house to look very colonial hence the red door.

The Creativity is Back!

There was a bit of a lull there with all the traveling and work but now I'm back and posting my latest creations.  I decorated and painted these letters for my sister-in-law's kids.  The "P" is for Paris (or Princess) and the "G" is for Giovanni (or GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAL!).

Party Nails!

So I realized that I used to spend around $100 on mani/pedis a month.  That’s $1,200 a year or a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti shoes.  To remedy this situation I decided to do my own nails and it’s been pretty easy.  My latest nail creation was on New Year’s Eve and consisted of:

  1. A clear base coat
  2. Jumpin’ Jade Sally Hansen Insta-Dri nail color (Insta-Dri is AMAZING!  A must for those who do their own nails)
  3. Green glitter that I bought at Sally’s Beauty Supply sprinkled on top of the Jumpin’ Jade nail color (while wet)
  4. A shiny top coat.

I heard it’s good luck to wear green on New Year’s Eve as it’s the color of prosperity.  Easy, cheap and chic!

Believe Wreath

I gave this to my mother-in-law.  She said she would nail and wire it to the door to make sure it doesn’t get stolen. She cracks me up.

Hope Wreath

I created this yesterday.  I think I’m going to start selling these bad boys on Etsy.  Might be a little too late in the season though…

Christmas Wreaths

I was looking through some Pottery Barn catalogs and realized how EXPENSIVE wreaths can be so I decided to make my own.  Check it out!  I’d like to thank my $10 glue gun (GG) for helping make these wreaths possible.  Thanks GG.  I might have to upload photos in the daytime as these look a little dark and don’t quite show the BLING of these wreaths.
